PALMY goal hero Reece Lyon admitted he was “absolutely useless” despite popping up to score the all-important winner against Kelty Hearts. But the midfielder — who has played in a number of positions already this season including in goals — couldn’t care less as his strike sent the Doonhamers to the League One summit. After the 2-1 victory, Lyon, right, said: “It was a strange goal because it felt like the ball was coming towards me in slow motion. I actually didn’t think the ball was going to get to me because Kurtis Guthrie was there and I thought he would take a touch and shoot but thankfully it fell to me and I was there to slot it in. “We controlled the game without really hurting them. I didn’t think it was a great game for the viewers. “I honestly thought I was absolutely useless all game to be honest. “But I was there at the very end to score and get us the win, that’s all that matters.” [caption id="attachment_62551" align="alignnone" width="680"]

LAST MINUTE DELIGHT . . . Reece Lyon celebrates PIC:QOSFC[/caption] He added: “I said to the boys after the game that if you could bottle that feeling up it would be worth millions of pounds. I couldn’t imagine what it would feel like to score last minute in a Premier League game. “But honestly scoring in the last minute is the best feeling ever. “The last time I scored in the last minute was actually against Queens when I made my debut for Morton in 2018 at Palmerston.” And he hailed the squad for fighting back after Kelty levelled. Lyon added: “This time last year we probably would’ve crumbled in that sort of situation. “We’ve shown a bit of character to come away with the three points and go top of the league.”
