WATER levels in the River Annan reached a 50-year high on Thursday, October 28, 2021. And who can forget how the Diamond Jubilee Bridge and Cuthbertson Memorial Bridge could not withstand the force of the water and both were dislodged from their foundations and washed downstream. On this week’s anniversary, the Annan A Tale of Two Bridges Group stressed that they continue the fight to replace the footbridges. And an announcement in regard to the feasibility study, being undertaken by Amey Consultancy on behalf of Dumfries and Galloway Council and the bridges group, is expected imminently.
