Fine arts group go online with show

DUMFRIES and Galloway Fine Arts Society is inviting the public to attend an online end of year showcase of members’ work. In place of their usual gallery show, the virtual December exhibition features over 40 original pantings of local landscapes and wildlife by 26 artists. Familiar scenes such as Kirkcudbright’s Tongland Quarry, cattle grazing at Loch Kindar, Castle Douglas’ Wallet Mart and Rough Island in the Solway Firth are among the subjects of the artworks available to view and purchase online. 'Barn Owl' by Jackie Moffat[/caption] The society’s chair, Kathleen Woods, said: “I can’t believe we are now in December and launching our third online exhibition of the year. Who would have thought the pandemic would last as long as this. “Thank you to all our members who have contributed. Tell all your friends and family to have a look and enjoy viewing as much as I have. “I hope you have all kept safe and well and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.” She added that the group hopes to return to showcasing work in a gallery once more in the spring, having booked the Harbour Cottage Gallery in Kirkcudbright from Sunday, April 18 to Saturday, May 1 in anticipation.
