Enterprise takes over village Post Office

AFTER 20 months of determined negotiation, Canonbie Community Enterprise has officially taken over the running of the village shop and Post Office. The keys were handed over by the previous postmaster on Monday lunchtime, marking a new chapter for the village. Posting on social media, the Enterprise said: “This moment is the result of a huge effort by many dedicated people in the community, working together with a shared goal: to secure and safeguard the future of these vital local services for Canonbie. “We’re incredibly pleased and proud to have reached this milestone, however the final steps happened rather quickly, and we will be finding our feet over the next few weeks and months. “We kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we get everything in place. There may be temporary changes to opening hours at the Post Office while we settle in. “Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey so far. With your continued backing, we look forward to building a thriving community hub that serves Canonbie for years to come.”
