ANNAN woman Donna Sinclair will be taking the leap on Monday to raise money for Dementia UK. Donna, who works as a bakery manager in Gretna, is travelling up to Killiecrankie north of Perth with her partner Colin McMillian where the couple will do a ‘highland fling’. They’ll be bungee jumping 132 feet from a platform overlooking a gorge over the River Garry, all to fundraise for Dementia UK. The charity is one that’s close to Donna heart as she has family members with the condition. She said: “I wanted to do it for Dementia UK because my granny died of dementia and my mum’s struggling with it. Anyone who’s had a family member with it knows it’s hard to watch them go through it. “Dementia UK do such a good thing supporting people, and they’re always needing money to be donated so when I saw the bungee advertised I thought I would like to do that. “So I decided I was going to come out of my comfort zone and do the bungee swing, do it for Dementia UK and hopefully raise a bit of money for them. “It’s getting nearer now and it’s quite nerve-wracking but I’m excited at the same time.” Although this isn’t the first time Donna has taken the leap, having bungeed off Blackpool Pier with her then teenage son, she’s looking forward to the experience. This time round she’s set herself a £500 goal for the fundraiser and with days to go until the big jump she’s raised over £600 through her Just Giving page and people donating at her work. She added: “Everybody’s been lovely coming in and saying well done and wishing us good luck. “I’m grateful to everyone who’s donated so far and got us over the £500 mark.” To donate to Donna’s fundraiser visit Justgiving.co.uk and search ‘Donna’s fundraiser for Dementia UK’.
