AN update has been given on the plans for a former health clinic in Annan.

We asked NHS Dumfries and Galloway what’s going on with the site in Charles Street, which was last used during the covid pandemic as a vaccination centre.

It’s now surrounded by fencing and in a sorry state.

An NHS spokesman this week said: “The former clinic building continues to be maintained in a safe and secure condition.

“Work is ongoing to explore disposal options, with a key priority being a cost-effective solution. This is particularly important given the current focus on organisational finances.”

He explained the slow progress has been partly due to necessary discussions with planning officials regarding the site’s potential, along with the completion of surveys to assess demolition options.

And he added: “While the building remains safe and secure, it is acknowledged that it is unsightly. It is hoped that a suitable disposal solution can be achieved in the near future.”
