ANNAN Riding of the Marches chairman Stuart Thompson was full of praise for all of the events on Saturday as the town celebrated its big day. He said: “The whole event was an overwhelming success. There was an increase in the number of horses, which is great to see, and there were visitors from all over Scotland. “The principals carried out their roles with enthusiasm and they have excelled. “It’s as good a parade as I have seen for the last decade. It was so encouraging to see as many kids taking part. The standard and the work that went in was phenomenal. “The pipe band competition ran extremely well. There were 14 bands, 12 of which competed. “The massed bands was a spectacle and the grand finale was just amazing.”
