Ceremony marks start of salmon season

THERE was a good turnout for the opening of the fishing season on the River Annan this week. The Annan 2026 Salmon Season was opened at the Newbie Beat on the lower river on Wednesday morning. Piper Craig Irving led everyone to the river, while Iain Graham performed the first cask. Annandale Distillery were in attendance to provide whisky for both the ceremony and the toast to the river.
