Bridges petitions gain traction
MORE than 1000 people have so far signed a petition calling on Dumfries and Galloway Council to provide a letter of intent to adopt or maintain a new footbridge over the River Annan.
Without this letter applications for funding cannot proceed.
Annan A Tale of Two Bridges Group – formed to assist with the processes of rebuilding the two washed away bridges – has been delighted with the response so far from the community.
As of yesterday, more than 750 people had signed the online petition, while 310 people had signed on paper.
A second petition, regarding Transport Scotland and the use of the A75 flyover as a pedestrian crossing, has reached more than 255 signatures on paper.
Posting on social media, A Tale of Two Bridges Group said: “Please take the time to sign our online petition.
“We also have paper copies in The Pantry, Sweet Like Candy Soft Play, The Cafe Royal, Our Wee Pop Up Shop, Isherwoods, LActive Gym, and The Corner House.
“Encourage everyone you know to sign – we need to show that the people of Annan really do want their bridges back!”
