Police Scotland’s Chief Constable Iain Livingstone this week authorised ‘a doubling’ of the operational presence on the roads in the border country in a bid to deter travellers. However, a spokesman for the force declined to reveal the number of extra officers sent to this region and said: “For operational reasons we never discuss specific police numbers.”
