Bauble messages
DEDICATE a bauble to someone you miss and remember this Christmas.
Moffat Promotions Group are offering people the chance to add a handwritten tag and message to the decorations on the Christmas tree at the town hall again this year.
This was first done last year and was very popular, as the group’s elf Karen Braithwaite said: “I remembered my nephew Sam, who sadly passed away in 2024. It helped to know that his name was on the tree each time I passed it, lit up over the Christmas festivities.
“Other people added the names of relatives who are overseas.
“There are so many people that we wish we could be with at Christmas. Many of us live far away from friends and family. Writing their names on the tag and knowing it is on the community tree brings them just a little bit closer to home.
“For those of us who have lost loved ones, or have lost part of them to dementia, it is special to remember these friends and family on the tree too. We might not be able to exchange cards or presents, but we can remember them every time we see the tree lit up.”
The baubles will be put onto the Moffat Christmas tree in the last week of November.
To write a message on a bauble, go to 17 Reasons in Well Street. The suggested donation for a bauble tag is £2 and the money raised will be donated to the Moffat Christmas Lights Fund.
