Annan lit up for Len
THE LIFE of a founding member and former captain of Annan and District Athletics Club (ADAC) was celebrated at the town’s Everholm Park last week.
Despite the downpours last Thursday, runners turned out by the dozens to remember Len Prater, left, who was an active member of the club. He is especially remembered for his interest in hill and other running challenges who in the process motivated others take up the sport prior to his passing a year ago.
As part of the celebration of Len’s life and legacy the track was illuminated through a combination of lights, torches, glow sticks as runners set off raising money for Dementia UK, a charity close to Len and his family’s heart.
Reflecting on the success of the Light up for Len event, a club official said: “It was a warm and heartfelt gathering in honour of Len, with a lovely mix of past and present members from both junior and senior sections.
“A genuine community moment, despite the weather.”
