EXPECT music, fun and laughter in Annan this Saturday afternoon as the town enjoys its Christmas lights switch on event. The Lights Committee has been working hard all year in order to make it a day to remember, with a number of events planned before young citizen Evan Wilson turns on the lights at 5.15 pm. Live music and entertainment is set to run on the High Street all afternoon, from 1 pm to 5 pm. This will include Jordan from Kingdom Of Creatures with his balloon modelling, Daffy Dill Entertainment, the Magic Juggler on stilts and his unicycle, festive Elf Ann-Marie with her band of helpers, singers from Newington School, dancing and more singing. Two craft fayres will run from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Market Hall and Corner House Hotel – the Corner House will also have festive photography taking place. At St Andrew’s Church Hall children can meet Santa, have their faces painted and pet the donkeys. And Potts’ Amusements will be at the Xtra Special Car Park. In the lead up to the big switch on, a lantern parade will set off from the Xtra Special car park at 4.45 pm. You can join Santa, Evan, Annan Town Band, pipers and the Port Street Pirates as they make their way up the High Street.
