Football fans in court

Lee Jardine, 21, of Dunlop Road, Dumfries, pleaded guilty at Dumfries Sheriff Court today to discharging the pyrotechnic device in a crowded area of the stadium at Palmerston Park in April.
He also admitted breaching a ban already imposed resulting from a different incident that day prohibiting him from attending football grounds until next January by not reporting in to a nominated police station within five days of being sentenced.
In a separate case, Lewis Prowse, 17, of Nithbank Avenue, Dumfries, was banned from attending designated football matches as a condition of bail after being accused of being in possession of a smoke grenade at Lady Street in Annan on the day that Queen of the South were playing the second division club in a cup tie at Galabank.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and trial was fixed for November.
