Ling is a champ

A WELL known coach was crowned Community Champion at the Scottish Disability Sports Awards on Sunday.

Ling Mann, of Annan, has been an instrumental part of Dumfries and Galloway Disability Sport since 2011. Starting as a coach for swimming and boccia, she soon became passionate on disability sport and joined Annandale and Eskdale Disability Sport Committee.

Boccia is a firm favourite and she is a qualified coach and umpire and has helped to develop it locally, as well as being the regional head coach and Team GB’s national head boccia coach.

Colleague Laura Vickers said: “Ling is reliable, fun, approachable, has a huge personality and is a great support to all the athletes, parents and volunteers. Nothing is ever too much she will always find a solution. “Ling gives up a considerable amount of her own personal time to support disability sport. She is a great asset to Dumfries and Galloway Sport, and we would be lost without her.”
