Rest in store for camera obscura

IT’S the last chance to see Dumfries’ Camera Obscura for a while.

The tower in which it is housed will be undergoing preservation work and painting for ten weeks from September 10.

And that means the historic attraction, which is actually the world’s oldest working example of such a scientific instrument, will be off limits at the same time.

A museum spokesperson said: “If you’d like to see the camera obscura before it closes for a wee while, then do visit us soon, the last day would be Sunday September 3.”

Visits are only able on dry days and it’s open Monday to Saturday 10 am-5 pm and 2-5 pm on Sundays, weather permitting.
