Arrest made in Lockerbie case

A LIBYAN man has been arrested in America in connection with the 1988 Lockerbie disaster.

Abu Agila Mohammed Mas’ud is believed to be in FBI custody accused of building the bomb which brought down Pan Am Flight 103, resulting in death of 270 people from the plane and the town.

Following the news of the arrest on Sunday, Police Scotland released this statement: “Police Scotland remains deeply committed to this investigation and to supporting the families and communities who suffered such devastating losses in this terrorist attack on 21 December, 1988.

“We continue to work closely with the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service in Scotland, along with our partners within the UK government and the authorities in the United States, in supporting the continued pursuit of justice against those responsible”
