They pooled a month’s worth of tips towards the life saving equipment, with their donations matched by the RAD Group directors.
And the new defib is now in place in case of an emergency.
Explaining how it came about, general manager John Forrester said: “The other managers and I were chatting about health and safety, and I had explained that in my previous hotel I had to use the defibrillator twice, and that it was a shame we didn’t have one.
“The conversation then led to us investigating where the nearest one would be for us. We looked at the local villages and the nearest one is some distance away so we would really be reliant on an ambulance if we ever required a defibrillator.”
After some discussion, the entire team became extremely passionate and decided they would each donate a month’s worth of tips towards purchasing a defibrillator.
John added: “We are really excited and glad to do this not only for our guests, staff but those in the local community.
We have also registered the defib with the Scottish Ambulance Service so that in the event of an emergency, members of the public can be directed to us to use our defib. We want the local community to know that we have the defib and if it is required in our community to hopefully save a life it is available.”
A RAD Hotel Group spokesman congratulated them on the project and said: “From everyone at The RAD Hotel Group, we would like to say a huge well done to every staff member at Hetland Hall and also to Allison Hamilton who supported the team with organising this wonderful initiative.”
