THE number of people on hospital waiting lists in the region more than doubled in the last quarter of 2020, new data reveals.
Research carried out by campaign group Scotland in Union has shown there were 188 people in Dumfries and Galloway still awaiting outpatient appointments after waiting more than 52 weeks at the end of last year.
The figures published previous to this in August for the third quarter of 2020 showed 65 patients in the region on waiting lists for over 12 months.
