Covid cases are dropping

COVID case numbers in Dumfries and Galloway continue to drop.

Scottish Government statistics published this afternoon show infection rates are slowing week by week.

And in the last seven days there were 48 new positive cases locally, bringing the overall total to 1114.

Over the weekend there were four or five new cases a day.

There are currently seven people in hospital in the region with virus related conditions.

Meanwhile, Public Health Scotland have put the current test positivity rate for Dumfries and Galloway at 1.9 per cent – lower than last week.
