Board members sought for enterprise agency

A CAMPAIGN has been launched to appoint the first members of the board of the South of Scotland Enterprise.

And applications are being sought from interested parties from around the region with backgrounds in the public, private and third sectors.

Explaining more, chair designate Professor Russel Griggs OBE said: “My vision for South of Scotland Enterprise is for an agency that will take a different approach to economic development tailored to the distinct opportunities and challenges in the south of Scotland. I want the Board to reflect that fresh thinking and fresh approach. Members will have a unique and exciting opportunity to shape the future of the south of Scotland and be part of an incredible journey to make a real difference, to support the people, communities and businesses within the area.”

South of Scotland Enterprise is a new agency for the south of Scotland and will go live on April 1 2020. It will support sustainable and inclusive economic growth across the region, take a new approach to the enterprise and skills needs of the south, drive inclusive growth in the region, and support fair work.

The six members will provide leadership, governance, direction, support and guidance, to ensure that the agency delivers its functions effectively and efficiently and in accordance with the aims, policies and priorities of the Scottish Ministers.  They will be appointed by Scottish Ministers.
