Mill trial adjourned

A trial in which the Edinburgh Woollen Mill is accused of two charges of mislabelling scarves as a hundred per cent cashmere has been adjourned to a later date for further investigation.

The trial was due to take place at Dumfries Sheriff Court today (Fri), but the adjournment requested by the prosecution was granted by Sheriff Brian Mohan.

The firm, of Waverley Mills, Glenesk Road, Langholm, has pleaded not guilty to the charges under the Textile Markets Labelling regulations involving a cashmere scarf falsely claimed to be 100 per cent cashmere on each occasion on February 18 and June 24, 2014 at their former store at Church Place in Dumfries.
The case will be called again in a month’s time for a new date to be set.
