Busy new year for police

POLICE were called to 67 incidents across the region in the first seven hours of January 1.

Between midnight and 7 am on New Year’s Day, police were kept busy in Dumfries and Galloway.

Calls ranged from domestic related incidents, anti-social behaviour and road traffic collisions, to concern for person calls, complaints of assaults and drink driving.

A division spokesman said: “This was in addition to anti-disorder patrols across our towns as licensed premises closed.”
