A FORMER village church has been put up for sale for offers over £115,000. The B-listed Dalton Parish Church dates from 1895 and was closed by the Church of Scotland in 2023. It is now on the market, along with the nearby church hall and its car park. It’s described as a ‘traditional church with intriguing, unique features’, and the particulars also say: “The main church sanctuary boasts stunning art detail on the vaulted ceiling.” [caption id="attachment_63177" align="alignnone" width="680"]

The striking ceiling[/caption] Although it sits in a graveyard, that’s not included in the sale as it belongs to the council and they will continue to maintain it. The sale particulars suggest future uses for the building as such: “The church could be used, without the necessity of obtaining change of use consent, as a crèche, day nursery, day centre, educational establishment, museum, art gallery or public library. “It also has potential for a variety of other uses, such as a theatre, cinema or entertainment venue, retail space or community resource subject to obtaining appropriate consents.”
