A WORRIED Dumfries business owner believes youths climbing up and jumping on rooftops in the town is “an accident waiting to happen”.

Christine Gourlay owns In Step on the High Street and for the past couple of days has been left concerned after a group of teens have been spotted on top of the building where her dance studio is.

And after sharing footage of three kids climbing up and jumping on the roof, she has appealed to parents to step in.

Christine – who has contacted the police about the incidents – said: “I posted the video on social media to show the parents and for them to be aware of how dangerous this is.

“It’s hard because I’ve told them to get down but they are back up five minutes later. My concern is that something bad might happen.

“I’ve seen them on the roofs having a laugh and pretending to push each other off it. That’s going to end in tears as it’s so high.

“I’ve heard them jumping too and if they miss they will be jumping to their death.

“One of them lobbed a bottle off the roof which nearly hit my young daughter.

“My concern as a dance studio owner is that I have over 150 families coming through there and teenagers on the roof isn’t good.

“I can hear them running on my roof. I don’t know if they understand how easy it is to go through a roof.”

Police Scotland was contacted for comment.
