YFC super speechmakers take a bow

DUMFRIES and Galloway District of Young Farmers held its senior speechmaking competition at Twynholm. The judges were Andrew Taylor, Grace Gray and Colin Ferguson, while Colin McKinnon was quiz master Their winners were Stranraer and Rhins, followed by Stewartry Green, then Annandale in third. Best speaker overall was Hannah Torbet, above, and there were other prizes for best chair outwith the winning team, going to John McCulloch; Jamie Ramsay named best opposer outwith the winning team; best arbiter went to Andrew Ramsay and best proposer outwith the winning team was Milly Smith. The quiz was won by Stewartry Green. A district spokesperson said: “Well done to everyone who took part and good luck to those going through to west!”
