Wildfire warning for the week

WARNINGS that parts of the region are at 'very high' risk of wildfires this week has been issued. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have put an alert in place from today, Wednesday, until Tuesday August 19.

A spokesperson said: "We want you to enjoy Scotland’s great outdoors in the sunshine, but please stay safe and be mindful of your surroundings. "Fires can ignite quickly and spread fast during this period. We urge you to avoid using any items involving a naked flame, avoid using portable barbecues, discarding cigarettes on the ground or lighting campfires in or near areas of vegetation."
