Who is Your 2026 Guid Nychbur?

THE Guid Nychburris Festival Association has officially opened the search for the town’s most selfless citizens. Nominations are now being invited for the 2026 Guid Nychbur and Junior Guid Nychbur awards, continuing a long-standing tradition of celebrating those who define the spirit of “good neighbours” in Dumfries. Festival chairman John Caskie expressed his pride in the calibre of nominees the festival receives each year. He said: “We should be very proud of the calibre of neighbours we have in Dumfries. “There are many people who go above and beyond the call of duty to make things easier, and at times better for their neighbours –neighbours who may be a little bit less able or fortunate than others.” He added that the judging panel is consistently moved by the stories they read: “We just wish we could award them all.” Do you know an individual or a group (up to age 16 for the junior award) who deserves this honour?
