Wedding fever at Challoch
EXCITEMENT is in the air at All Saints Church at Challoch, which is to host its first wedding for ten years.
Jennifer Faux and Ewan Moses will be tying the knot today in the company of family and friends at a ceremony performed by Reverend Dawn Matthew.
The Moses family has close connections with the church as they are immediate neighbours, and in fact some years ago they donated a plot of land to the church for use as a car park.
The very first wedding at All Saints Church took place on February 4 1873 shortly after its consecration. The nuptials were between Alexander Dunlop and Charlotte Cooper. From that date the church was very popular for weddings up until 2015, since when there’s been a lapse.
Rev Dawn said: “We are delighted that Jennifer and Ewan have chosen Challoch to celebrate their marriage as it is such a lovely church and who could wish for a better setting? We hope that more couples will consider us when wanting to get married or renew their vows.
“We welcome enquiries and people can come and look for themselves what a lovely venue we have here. As well as regular Sunday services, we are open most Saturday afternoons during the summer.”
Bride-to-be Jennifer said: “We’re really looking forward to having our wedding at Challoch. We really love All Saints and it has such close ties with my husband-to-be’s family, we really couldn’t have wished for a better place to get married.”
