Visitor house now open
A REMEMBRANCE house dedicated to the Lockerbie Air Disaster is now open daily.
The building is in the grounds of the Lockerbie Memorial Church Museum (LMCM) at the former Dryfesdale Church.
And the aim is to help visitors, both local, national and international, to learn more about the terrorist attack on 21 December 1988.
It features a Living Memorial exhibition revealing biographies and a colour photo gallery of the 270 victims killed.
There’s also a Wall of Honour shows the insignias and lists 110+ first responder and volunteer organisations representing thousands that provided essential and invaluable help during the recovery, investigation and ongoing pursuit of justice.
Additionally, the Legacy Story Archive includes first-hand accounts from local residents and heroes alike.
It is staffed by museum team members and open 10 am to 4 pm.
Meanwhile, LMCM, in partnership with Pan Am 103 Lockerbie Legacy Foundation, has released details of their inaugural memorial service later this year.
It will take place on Sunday December 21 at 1 pm in the former Dryfesdale Church building and will mark the 37th anniversary of the bombing.
They are planning tributes through uplifting performances and verse and describe it as ‘a community celebration of gratitude and remembrance’.
And they hope to make it an annual event, which is well attended by townsfolk and others connected with the 1988 disaster.
To attend, email [email protected] by December 19.
