Views sought for region’s new health plan

WORK is underway to develop a new plan for health and social care in Dumfries and Galloway that will shape care and support in the region for the next three years. And everyone is being urged to have their say and highlight their priorities.

Dumfries and Galloway Integration Joint Board has launched a consultation document seeking people’s thoughts and views about health and social care in the future.

Chief officer Julie White said: “We’re encouraging everyone within the region to have a voice in shaping health and social care locally by telling us what is important to them. This will inform our priorities for areas of focus and resources over coming years.

“This covers everything from hospitals to GP practices, care homes to care at home services and day centres. It’s a massive area of work, but it is crucial that we know that our approach is aligned with the insights and views provided by the people who access and benefit from these services and their families and carers.”

Over the next few months there will be opportunities for people to engage and share their experience and views.

Julie White added: “Covid-19 makes engaging with people a more challenging and complicated process but work across health and social care will continue to evolve in spite of the coronavirus.

“I would urge everyone to ensure their voice is heard and to play an active role in shaping health and social care and support to ensure that they continue to meet the needs of people for years to come.”

Virtual presentations and workshops will also take place on December 2, 8 and 16 and other digital events can be organised for interested groups.

The closing date for comments on this phase of the process is January 17 2021.
