Vehicle shopping spree

DUMFRIES and Galloway Council are in the middle of a shopping spree for new vehicles.

Papers for this week’s economy and resources committee reveal they have ordered nine buses at a cost of £1,432,800. They are being delivered at the rate of one vehicle per week.

In addition, two tractors have been procured at a total cost of £140,000, as well as five tractor towed grass cutters, a hedge cutter, three ride on mowers, a remote controlled mower, strimmers, backpack blowers, hedge cutters and operating accessories.

There are also ten new vans, and seven cars being purchased to replace some of the older vehicles within the fleet.
