Tree planting continues

TREE planting efforts in the hills around Moffat continued at the weekend when 25 hardy volunteers took to hills to plant 1300 native broadleaf trees.

The planting was part of the Border Forest Trust’s rewilding project to restore woodlands in the Southern Uplands.

Thanking everyone who participated in the weekend plantings a spokesperson for the Border Forest Trust said: “We are on a roll! Another fantastic day of tree planting at Talla this weekend with 25 hardy volunteers who put in a massive shift to get over 1300 native broadleaf trees in the ground.

“A big thanks to everyone involved. You’ve helped us take another important step in the ecological restoration of the Southern Uplands.”
