Travelling Auctioneers in Dumfries

IT’S auction stations in Dumfries tomorrow when hit BBC series The Travelling Auctioneers comes to town.

They will be at the Thomson Roddick Callan auction house from 9.30 am with a variety of treasures going under the hammer.

It will include iconic Hornby 00 gauge collections, a c. 1964 autographed “Love from The Beatles” piece, signed by each member of the legendary band in blue ballpoint pen, jewellery and Royal Doulton figures.

One of the auction’s standout features is the vast diecast car collection, which includes rare AR models by Franklin Mint Precision Models, made in Hong Kong, and featuring iconic cars like the 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom I, the 1930 Bugatti Royal Napoleon, and the 1938 Jaguar SS-100—all elegantly displayed in bespoke cases.

There’ll also be a selection of restored antiques, beautifully brought back to life by the show’s expert restorer, JJ Chalmers, above left. Among the restored items is a Fruitwood spinning wheel in the 17th-century style from Sherborne Castle, a Victorian pine farmhouse table, and a rare WWII fire patrol helmet.

A show spokesperson said: “This is a rare chance to own some of the finest memorabilia, antiques, and collectibles around, all in one place.”
