Seven face train disturbance charges

FIVE women and two men have been charged with causing a disturbance on a train between Carlisle and Dumfries by removing their underwear and waving them in the faces of other travellers.

It is also said that the group jumped over seats, kicked passengers and engaged in fights.
It was alleged at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday that the seven, all from Dumfries, behaved in a threatening or abusive manner aboard the train in March.
The case involving Chantelle Aitken, 20, of Hope Place; and Michelle Brown, 42, of Armour Drive, was continued without plea for three weeks, while trial was set for December in the case of Tammy Brown, 37, of Anwoth Avenue; Ashley Robinson, 41, of Palmerston Avenue; Andrew Gillespie, 33, of Babbington Drive; and Mark Gillespie, of Burnett Avenue.
Finally, sentence was deferred for three weeks on 20-year-old Charelle McGauchie, of Anwoth Avenue, who pleaded guilty to the offence.
