Towns should brace for busy weekend

EXTRA traffic is to be expected through Lochmaben and Lockerbie this weekend due to a closure of the A75.

The busy trunk road will be shut from tonight until Monday morning for resurfacing and other essential maintenance.

The diversion will take vehicles via the Brownrigg Roundabout at Dumfries to join the A709. Traffic will continue along the A709 through Lochmaben to Lockerbie, then the B7076 southbound to Gretna Green to rejoin the A75 onslip there.

The diversion will also kick in during overnight closures next week, taking place from Monday to Thursday.

The scheme is weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
