THE UK Government has officially endorsed the ‘Dumfries Pride in Place Plan’.

Created by the Dumfries Town Board, the report outlines a clear vision for the future of the town with key themes that will guide investment and activity as part of the ‘Pride in Place’ programme.

Town board chairman Kenny Bowie said: “I’m delighted that our 10-year vision for Dumfries has been endorsed by the UK Government.

“This is a strong vote of confidence in the ambition and potential of our town.

“I want to thank all partners and the community who helped shape this vision.

“Our focus now is clear: turning that vision into reality by delivering meaningful investment that benefits residents, businesses, and future generations.”

A number of projects are set to receive funding through Dumfries Town Board to bring their vision to life, with further details on the funded projects to be shared in due course.

Going forward the board will be hosting a series of drop-in sessions to provide an opportunity for people to learn more about the projects they are taking forward, ask questions, and understand how the plan is beginning to take shape on the ground.

Programme manager, Joanne Johnstone added: “This endorsement marks a major milestone for Dumfries.

“It shows that our long-term vision is not only ambitious but achievable.

“We now move into the next phase – working at pace to ensure projects are progressed, funded, and delivered.

“The Town Board is committed to building momentum and making sure the opportunities ahead translate into real change on the ground.”
