A HOLLY jolly time was had by all at Machars Young Farmers annual charity tractor run on Sunday.

The event attracted over 45 tractors and four lorries decked with lights, tinsel and inflatables for the club's festive fundraiser, which called in at Whauphill, Port Logan, Monreith, Whithorn, Garlieston and Wigtown.

A total of £1769 was raised and will be split between the club's two chosen charities: D and G Prostate Buddies, and Calum’s Cabin.

Another special part of this year's event was the inaugural presentation of the Colin Craig Memorial Trophy to Tommy Reynolds for the best decorated tractor.

A club spokesperson said: "We can’t thank you all enough for entering and taking the time and effort to make such a fantastic job of decorating. Our buckets have been counted and we’ve raised an amazing £1769.09.

"Every penny makes such a massive difference, so we thank you all so much for braving the weather and coming out to watch and donate!"

There were special thank yous as well to judge Jennifer Craig, Ken McCubbin MBE for presenting the trophy and D&G Prostate Buddies for donating it and other prizes, as well as Robin Vance for getting Santa round safely and being the lead vehicle.

The club added: "We hope everyone enjoyed it just as much as we did, Santa and his elves loved spreading some festive cheer and we can’t wait for next year already!"
