A BRYDEKIRK group working to save their village’s pub by bringing it into community ownership have now raised more than 80 per cent of the funds required.

The Brig Inn Pub and Hub has already secured £95,000 from the Scottish Land Share Fund.

However, they need to raise an additional £35,000 by the middle of January to prove they have the funds required to legally begin purchasing the village pub as a community.

The group has now reached just under £21,000 on their Crowdfunder page – crowdfunder.co.uk/p/the-brig-inn – and offline donations have take them even closer to the target.

A spokesperson for the group said: “We’re now at 80 per cent of our target with just five days left until our crowdfunding ends, so we need to make every single day count.

“Thank you everyone who has supported us so far. If you’ve been thinking of donating please don’t wait until it’s too late.”

Tonight the group is holding a family bingo night at Brydekirk Village Hall from 7 pm. And tomorrow they will be at Annan Tesco to fundraise and speak to members of the public about the project.
