Theatre ready to rock out
MOFFAT Theatre is turning up the volume as rehearsals for its upcoming production of School of Rock continue.
Based on the hit 2003 film, this hilarious musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star, who decides to earn some extra cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school.
There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. While teaching these pint-sized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within.
The cast and crew of all ages have been working tirelessly to perfect songs, scenes, and choreography, and the excitement backstage is growing with every rehearsal.
Part of the theatre’s 75th anniversary year celebrations, the show will be the first musical performed there for over ten years.
Director Bryony Ladd-Smith said: “Audiences members can expect a high-energy show packed with humour, talent, and unforgettable musical performances.
“The whole community is eagerly looking forward to opening night, and if rehearsals are anything to go by, the audience is certainly in for an amazing show.”
School of Rock runs from the June 3 –13. More information can be found at: www.moffattheatre.co.uk
