Spate of thefts in Galloway

POLICE are investigating a number of thefts from farms across the Galloway area.

A red-coloured Honda TRX 500 quad bike with a value of around £3000 has been stolen from a farm at Whauphill,  Newton Stewart, sometime between 6 pm on Thursday July 9 and 10 am on Friday July 10.

A large quantity of tools including a SIP welder inverter, a Husqvarna chainsaw, a Makita angle grinder, electric drills and Draper socket sets were stolen in a break-in to a farm at Kirkcowan, Newton Stewart.  The value of the stolen property is in over £2000.

The theft took place sometime between 10.30 am on Thursday July 9 and 4 am on Friday July 10.

A parking meter has been damaged in what appears to be an attempt to gain access to the money boxes at Galloway House Gardens at Garlieston, Newton Stewart.  Two donation posts have been damaged as a result and the cost to repair them is estimated at around £600.

The damage was caused sometime between Friday July 3 and Tuesday July 7.

An orange-coloured petrol Husqvarna hedge strimmer has been stolen from a farm near Cairnryan, Stranraer, sometime between Wednesday June 24 and Wednesday July 8.
