GALLOWAY Mountain Rescue Team has put out a call for help to local landowners. Their drone team is looking for permission to carry out occasional training flights on suitable land across the region.

A spokesperson said: “Our drones are a vital tool in search and rescue, helping us locate missing or injured people quickly, especially in remote and difficult terrain. To keep our pilots effective and ready, we need access to a range of landscapes for training. “We’re asking if any local farmers or landowners would be willing to allow us to use their land from time to time. Even occasional access can make a real difference to our ability to save lives.” They stressed that all flights are carefully planned and risk assessed and can be worked around schedules to avoid disruption. Furthermore, livestock, crops, and privacy are always respected. Anyone open to helping or who would like to know more is urged to get in touch.
