GUESTS at a James Bond themed ball were licensed to thrill as they helped raise £6560 for a great cause.

The glitzy event at Moffat House Hotel was organised by Sharon and Gordon Duncan in aid of the screening programme run by Cardiac Risk in the Young.

It featured a meal, champagne bingo, an auction, raffle and entertainment.

And thanks to the ball-goers’ generosity, many more young people in Dumfries and Galloway will be able to access the life-saving screening test.

Sharon said: “There was style, mystery and excitement along with a great deal of fun, and everyone commented on what a wonderful evening they had.”

She was also running the event in memory of her beloved son David Hill who died unexpectedly in March 2022 of Sudden Cardiac Death.

Sharon said: “We have been fundraising since he died to prevent other families suffering the same loss as we did. So far, we have offered 1000 screening appointments in Dumfries and Galloway, and our next screening days in October in Moffat will see over 1000 young people screened so far as a result of our work.

“The David Hill Memorial Fund will be able to provide a further 600 cardiac screening appointments for the young people of Dumfries and Galloway into 2028! These will be available at www.testmyheart.org later this year, and we would encourage those aged 14-35 to register and take advantage of these consultations with a cardiologist.”

Sharon thanked all involved in the event, as well as the sponsors and supporters.
