Serious assault probe

DETECTIVES in Dumfries are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted and robbed in the town. It happened between 5 am and 6.30 am on Sunday when the 33-year-old was walking near Cuckoo Bridge on Glasgow Road and was approached by a man aged about 40-years-old. He was then seriously assaulted and robbed of personal possessions. The victim attended Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment. Detective Constable Grant Middlemiss said: “Enquires are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. "If you were within the area of Glasgow Road, Dumfries between 5 am and 6.30 am on Sunday morning and have any information or dash-cam footage or which may assist us in our investigation, please contact police."
