Search ends well

MOUNTAIN and inshore rescue crews were scrambled to Newton Stewart to search for a missing person on Tuesday. Galloway Mountain Rescue were alerted by police Scotland at 9.48 am to assist in the search along the banks of the River Cree. Nith Inshore Rescue and SARDA Southern Scotland also assisted in the search. Giving more detail, a spokesperson for Galloway Mountain Rescue said: “Our water team, supported by additional team members, carried out searches along the banks of the River Cree. The drone team also conducted aerial searches over various sections of the river. “Just as the team were preparing to stand down, further information was received. At 7 pm, team members located the missing person alive and well — a fantastic outcome for everyone involved.”
