Scottish Water strikes continue despite further talks, says UNISON
STAFF at Scottish Water continued with strike action last weekend after their employer offered less than a pound extra each week despite days of talks. UNISON said that Intensive negotiations resulted in the company finding just a further £50 on their previous offer. The total rise for the vast majority of staff amounts to £1,425. Staff were to be consulted on the latest offer but, nevertheless, industrial action continued over the weekend. UNISON regional manager Simon Macfarlane said: “Scottish Water management clearly isn't serious about trying to end this dispute amicably. "Staff provide an essential service and deserve far better. Unions are doing everything they can to bring this strike to a close, but that will only happen with a fair pay rise.”
