DISPLAYS of empathy, dedication and community spirit took centre stage as Dumfries High School hosted its annual Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) Grand Final. The event concluded with local causes securing a combined financial injection of £5594 through a mixture of corporate grant funding and student-led fundraising drives. The standard of competition was praised as “exceptional” by school staff, who noted the immense hard work put in by the participating year group. Students took to the stage to deliver passionate, deeply researched, and moving presentations to advocate for local third-sector groups. Pupils delivered powerful pitches championing a diverse range of fantastic charities, including: Women’s Aid, Simba, My Name’5 Doddie, Independent Living Support, Change Mental Health, Make 2nds Count, and Alzheimer’s Scotland. Following careful deliberation by the judging panel, the winning team successfully secured the coveted £3000 YPI grant on behalf of Alzheimer’s Scotland.
