Sam's nature message
ACTOR Sam Heughan is encouraging people in Scotland and beyond to get outdoors and reconnect with nature to support their mental wellbeing. Galloway-born Heughan, star of hit show Outlander, has previously spoken about the positive impact Scotland’s hills and mountains have had on his own mental health, highlighting the simple moments spent outside – walking, climbing or taking time to breathe in natural surroundings – can help people feel calmer and more balanced. To mark this month’s Mental Health Awareness Week, he said: “I’ve been lucky in my acting career, but there have been tough moments. On these days, being in nature helps me re-set and breathe. “In such a fast-paced world, it’s essential to take time to disconnect and reconnect with ourselves and the natural world around us.”
