THIS year’s theme for the Rotary Scotland South Conference in Renfrew was ‘Changing Lives’, featuring a number of speakers from across the region. District governor and Annan Citizens Advice Bureau manager Brenda Waugh said: “The conference brought together Rotarians from across Scotland, as our district covers a huge area, including Oban on the west coast, Eyemouth in the east, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ayrshire, the Borders and Dumfries and Galloway. Brenda added: “I invited Phil Stewart, chief executive of Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Service (D and G CAS) to speak at the event, as Rotary Scotland South is a charity for hope and the aims of the Citizens Advice Service aligns perfectly with our values and with theme of the conference. Especially around tackling poverty and helping people through the difficult times we currently face.” Phil said: “I was delighted to take up Brenda’s kind offer as it enabled me to raise awareness of, not only the work we do in Dumfries and Galloway but the great work that Citizens Advice Bureaux carry out across the country. "I hope that I did Brenda proud in her year as District Governor, where she did a great job chairing and compering the conference.” Brenda said: “Phil gave an excellent presentation, demonstrating the vital service Citizens Advice offer in Dumfries and Galloway, linking it in to the national picture. "The conference’s networking sessions provided valuable opportunities for Rotarians to ask questions and build connections, fostering a stronger sense of unity across the South Scotland district and ignited fresh momentum for continued innovation in the year ahead.”
