FOUR local charities have benefited from £18,800 in donations from a Lochmaben manufacturer.

The Veterans Gardens Dumfries - above, Sports Driving Unlimited, D&G Canine Rescue Centre and Lockerbie Wildlife Trust each received £4701 from Russell Roof Tiles (RRT) as part of their diamond jubilee year.

The handouts are part of the firm’s community fund, Give4Good, which supports local and international organisations chosen by staff.

Give4Good was launched in 2022 as a way of supporting local initiatives with fun and challenging events championed by staff, suppliers, customers and partners. Fundraising events have included quizzes, a golf day at Lochmaben, and triathlon, with staff also supporting it through a Give as you Earn scheme.

RRT managing director Andrew Hayward said: “It’s an important part of our company values that we support our local communities, recognising those who make a real difference to people’s lives.

“It’s fitting that in our diamond jubilee year; we boosted this support even further.

“I am incredibly proud to lead a dedicated team that consistently innovates and outperforms expectations. As we mark our 60th anniversary, we remain focused on transforming our operations, improving manufacturing efficiency and delivering better, more sustainable products.

“We are looking forward to another decade, and beyond to continued growth and success.”

Thanking them on behalf of the good causes, Jim Rae, from Lockerbie Wildlife Trust, said: “I would like to say how much we appreciate the support of the staff at Russell Roof Tiles.

“Their financial backing helps us to take forward our work at Eskrigg Nature Reserve and maintain a greatly appreciated resource for the local community.”
